Westchester Man Accused Of Intentionally Setting Car Fire On Taconic Parkway
A 27-year-old Westchester County man is facing an arson charge after police said he intentially set a car on fire.
Luis Ramos, of Yonkers, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 26, on a charge of third-degree arson, according to New York State Police.
At about 4:10 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a vehicle engulfed in flames on the Taconic State Parkway northbound at mile marker 48 in the Dutchess County town of LaGrange, State Police said.
Troopers found a 1999 Toyota Camry, with no occupants, in a wooded area about 80 feet from the eastern shoulder, police said.

Nearly Two Dozen Charged With Impaired Driving During Dutchess Detail
Authorities in Dutchess County have just announced the results of a special multi-agency holiday DWI detail in Dutchess County.
Between Friday, July 2, and Monday, July 5, law enforcement agencies in Dutchess conducted impaired driving details that included saturation of patrols throughout the county in addition to their regular patrols, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, July 14.
In total, 21 motorists were busted for impaired driving.

Hudson Valley Man Nabbed With Loaded Handgun During Traffic Stop, Police Say
A man was arrested following a traffic stop by state police for the alleged criminal possession of a loaded firearm in the area.
David E. George, age 25, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 25, in the town of LaGrange, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
According to Hicks, George was stopped in a 2014 Mazada for a traffic violation on Route 55.
During an investigation, troopers found that George was in possession of a loaded Polymer P80 handgun with no serial number, Hicks said.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Dutchess is getting closer to 1,000 as the death toll in the county rose slightly in the past week as the county recovers from the second surge of the virus.
