Fatal Crash: Vehicle Hits Tree, Goes Up In Flames On Busy Hudson Valley Highway
A person was killed in a fiery crash on a busy Hudson Valley highway, police announced.
The incident happened in Putnam County on Monday, May 6, around 7:15 p.m., when a vehicle traveling on I-84 in Kent left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.
After hitting the tree, the vehicle went up in flames, Hicks said. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash has not been released.

Police ID Two Killed, Release New Details In Apparent Hudson Valley Road Rage Incident
Police have identified two men killed and released new details after an apparent road rage incident on a busy roadway in the region.
The incident took place in Putnam County on Interstate 84 in the town of Kent early Saturday morning, July 2.
An initial investigation determined the two men, both from Dutchess County, Mark H. Hall, age 38, of Holmes, and Fabian A. Tirado, age 22, of Wappinger, stopped in the right lane of travel and exited their vehicles due to a road rage altercation, New York State Police said.

Expect Delays: Separate Daytime Lane Closures Scheduled On I-84 Stretch
Be ready for possible traffic delays through southwest Dutchess County in the coming days.
Scheduled road work on Interstate 84 near the Town of Fishkill will have one lane closed in either direction near Fishkill Creek, according to the Department of Transportation.
First up will be the closure of one westbound lane between US Route 9 and State Route 52, Thursday, May 12, and Friday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
That will be followed by one eastbound lane closing through the same stretch Tuesday, May 17, and Wednesday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wrong-Way I-84 Driver Strikes Trooper, Police Say
A man under the influence driving the wrong way on Interstate 84 led police on a chase which ended when he intentionally struck a state trooper, according to authorities.
Michael Newman, age 35, was charged with assaulting a police officer, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and three other offenses.
He allegedly struck the trooper at around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 6 in Connecticut near Exit 32 in Southington after police had him boxed in.
No injuries were reported, Connecticut State Police said.
