Roadwork Alert: Blasting Will Cause I-84 Closures For Months There will be road closures on I-84 in Orange County for months as contracting crews perform blasting activities in the area. New York State Police issued an alert stating that beginning on Monday, June 29, there will be blasting on I-84 for approximately 10 weeks between Monday and Friday between noon and 1 p.m. According to police, I-84 will be closed in both directions between exits 19 (old exit 4) and exit 28 (old exit 5) for between five and 10 minutes each day.

Roadway Reopens After Large Protest This story has been updated. A stretch of I-84 has reopened after hundreds protesting police-related deaths entered the highway. The closure, in both directions, was between exits 4 and 5 in Danbury on Wednesday, June 3 and lasted about an hour, starting just before 2:30 p.m. The protest began on Main Street early in the afternoon with more than 1,000 people. A smaller amount, but still in the hundreds, then proceeded to the interstate. Other protests are planned for this afternoon in Fairfield County in New Canaan and Stamford.
