Robotics Team From High School In Northern Westchester Impresses At State Event
A high school robotics team from the Hudson Valley took on some of New York’s brightest minds before coming up just short of the finals at the US First NY Excelsior Regional Championships. Each year, teams from New York high schools work around the clock to create working robots that are then put in various competitions in a 30-match round-robin style opening qualification round as they battle for a spot in the playoff. Less than three weeks after the first case of the highly transmissible Omicron COVID-19 variant was identified in the United States, the first death in the nation connected to the strain has been confirmed in the Houston, Texas area. The patient was a man in his 50s who was not vaccinated and had an underlying health condition, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said, according to KHOU-11, a CBS-affiliated television station in Houston. The Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox may have all missed out on the Fall Classic, but both New York and Massachusetts still had a presence as the World Series which got underway in Houston earlier this week.
