College Student Bitten By Aggressive Animal Believed To Be Coyote In Hudson Valley
A student at a Hudson Valley college was bitten by what is believed to be a coyote. The incident took place in Dutchess County at Marist College in the town of Poughkeepsie around midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 7 near Leo Hall, according to the college's office of Safety of Security in a statement to students. 19: High School In Area Goes Remote After Positive Case
Another area school has returned to remote learning due to another positive case of COVID-19. John Jay High School in East Fishkill is closed for in-person instruction on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and remain so until after the Thanksgiving holiday break, school officials said. A notice will be sent to parents by Sunday, Nov. 29, to determine if the school can return to its hybrid learning plan, officials said. Fire Leads To Evacuation Of Busy Town Of Poughkeepsie Store
A fire in the deli section of the Price Chopper grocery in the Town of Poughkeepsie caused the evacuation and temporary closure of the store. The fire started around 2:07 p.m. Friday at the store located at 2585 South Road when a rotisserie caught fire, said Chief Tory Gallante of the Arlington Fire Department. The department arrived within three minutes to find customers already being evacuated by store employees, Gallante said. "They did an excellent job of evacuating the shoppers," he said.
