NY State To Increase Patrols During Holiday Weekend To Prevent Impaired Driving Law enforcement agencies across New York will increase patrols during the Thanksgiving weekend in an effort to prevent impaired and aggressive driving. Nine Charged In Sobriety Checkpoint In Dutchess Nine motorists were charged during a sobriety checkpoint conducted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Poughkeepsie Police Department. On Sunday, Nov. 4, police conducted the checkpoint, which was funded by the Governors Traffic Safety Committee and the New York State STOP-DWI Foundation.
