New Dutchess County Police Chief Grew Up In City He Now Serves A new chief of police in the region is no stranger to the area; he grew up there and has been part of the department for some 30 years.  Dutchess County resident Rich Wilson has been named the Chief of Police for the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department by Mayor Yvonne Flowers on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Wilson has served as Interim Police Chief since the former chief, Tom Pape, retired in May. Wilson joined the department in 1994 as a police dispatcher and worked his way through the ranks. Suspects Still On Run After Five Shot In Westchester County, Police Say Police are intensifying their investigations into two shootings that injured five people in one night in Westchester County. The incidents began in Yonkers around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. That's when officers responded to the area of Pitkin Park on Locust Hill Avenue on a report of shots fired, said Sgt. Frank DiDomizio, of the Yonkers Police Department. Upon arrival, officers located two victims of gunshot wounds. The victims were quickly transported to an area hospital.
