Covid-19: Two More Schools In Northern Westchester Go Remote After Students Test Positive Two more schools in the Hudson Valley are closed for in-person learning after positive cases of COVID-19. The Lakeland Central School District announced on Wednesday evening, Oct. 7 that it was notified earlier in the day that two students were identified as COVID-19 positive, one at Walter Panas High School, and one at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School.  As a result, Walter Panas High School and Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School will be on fully remote instruction for Thursday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 9. Lakeland Central School District Names New Superintendent A veteran educator has been tapped to take over at the helm of the Lakeland Central School District. The Lakeland School Board of Education announced this week that Arlington Central School District Superintendent Brendan Lyons has been named to the same position in the district, effective as of Wednesday, July 1. Lyons takes over for the retiring Superintendent George Stone, who has been in the role for a decade. Lyons was chosen following an eight-month search. “I am honored and excited to join the Lakeland Central School District as its next superintendent,” Lyons said in a statement.…
