A 40-year-old woman removed her face covering and spit at a man in an area supermarket after getting into a dispute over social distancing, leading to her arrest, police said. The incident happened earlier this month in Fairfield County. As residents make a rush on grocery and retail stores stocking up on mass amounts of supplies including toilet paper and hand sanitizer amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), supermarkets are adjusting their hours to restock and clean and making other changes. Stop & Shop To Ban Plastic Bags At All CT Stores
In just days, Stop & Shop will become the latest retailer in Connecticut to ban the use of single-use plastic bags. After Big Y announcing that it is eliminating the use of plastic bags in its Connecticut stores, Stop & Shop said that that, beginning on Thursday, Aug. 1, stores will begin eliminating the use of plastic bags at checkout.
