Bear Sighted In Public Park In Hudson Valley A bear sighting in an Orange County park prompted a warning from police. The incident happened on Monday, Sept. 22, when the City of Middletown Police said a bear was seen inside Fancher-Davidge Park on Lake Avenue.  In an update on Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, the department said the animal had appeared to have left the area and that the park remains open.  The department added that while bears typically steer clear of people, officers are monitoring the situation and will notify the state Department of Environmental Conservation if the animal becomes a threat.

Westchester County Police received a call at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, where there was a report of a bear near a dumpster in the area of Victoria Drive and the Guard Hill condo complex in Mount Kisco. Separate Bear Sightings Reported In Northern Westchester Hamlet A black bear gave some residents in Northern Westchester a quick scare as it made the rounds through an otherwise quiet neighborhood last week. A Sunset Drive resident in Armonk reported a black bear that was lounging in a tree shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, the North Castle Police Department said, with an officer confirming the bear sighting upon arrival to the home.
