A 64-year-old man faces criminal charges after allegedly abandoning two dogs on the side of a Hudson Valley road, authorities announced. The arrest stemmed from an incident on Thursday, June 6, when the Putnam County SPCA learned that two dachshund mix dogs had been found the day before by a good samaritan on Longfellow Drive in the Lake Carmel area of the town of Kent. A 24-year-old man was hit with a criminal charge after a urine-soaked cat was found abandoned in a plastic crate near a Hudson Valley animal shelter on a rainy day, authorities said. Authorities are searching for whoever was responsible for abandoning two ferrets found inside a crate at a Hudson Valley Park and Ride parking lot, police said. Police in Watervliet were called to Hudson Shores Park on Wednesday, May 31, after someone found the cat inside a crate without food or water. The Putnam County SPCA is seeking information regarding the abandonment of an adult female beagle. On Tuesday, Dec. 1, around 1 p.m., a delivery driver observed an individual push the dog out of an older model, Black Jeep Wrangler onto the side of Route 301, in the Town of Carmel, said the SPCA.
