It may just be the easiest case detectives have ever solved. An alleged commercial burglar in the region is behind bars after he forgot to cover his tracks, literally. Police in Albany were called at around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 7 for a burglary in progress at the Stop 1 Deli & Grocery on Second Avenue. A teenager is recovering after being shot in the region. Police in Albany were called just before 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, for a shooting in the city’s Arbor Hill neighborhood, near Henry Johnson Boulevard and 3rd Street. When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his leg. Teen Admits Having Machine Gun At Capital Region Home
An 18-year-old from the region could spend years behind bars after being busted with a machine gun. Rensselaer County resident Ahmed AlSaadi, of Troy, pleaded guilty to weapons charges in Albany federal court on Thursday, Dec. 21. Prosecutors said AlSaadi admitted that in August 2023 he possessed three machine gun conversion devices and a Glock handgun that had been modified with such a device.
