Six teenagers are recovering after a shooting at a Fourth of July party in the region. Police in Albany were called about a shooting in the city’s Pine Hills neighborhood, on Myrtle Avenue near Quail Street, at around 12:15 a.m. Friday, July 5. When officers arrived, they found evidence of gunfire in the home’s backyard and in the street that occurred during a large gathering, police said. Federal investigators have ruled out mechanical failure for causing a small plane crash in upstate New York that killed a beloved pilot and photographer. A tornado touched down in New York State during a round of severe storms, the National Weather Service has announced following a survey of the damage. The tornado hit the village of West Winfield in southern Herkimer County late Saturday morning, June 22. It's about 60 miles east of Syracuse and 85 miles west of Albany. A high-speed police chase in the region ended with a motorcyclist in the hospital. The Albany County incident happened at around 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22, on southbound I-87 in Colonie. New York State Police said troopers attempted to stop a motorcyclist for speeding near Exit 4, but the man continued driving southbound as police followed. Fatal Crash: 34-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Capital Region
Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left one person dead in the region. It happened around 5:10 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in Albany. The investigation determined that Albany County resident Michael F. Furch, age 34, of Guilderland, was operating a motorcycle when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete barrier exiting I-787 on the off-ramp to I-90, New York State Police said. Furch was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the shoulder of I-787 northbound below the off-ramp. Furch was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old man from the region is facing over a half dozen charges after allegedly holding a victim against their will and assaulting them in a dispute that lasted hours. Jacob Muniz, of Albany, was arraigned on assault and related charges in Albany County Court on Monday, June 17. An investigation by New York State Police found that Muniz physically assaulted and injured the victim while holding them against their will at a New Scotland resident, police said. A woman is recovering after she was stabbed during a robbery in the region. Albany Police were called at around 7:45 p.m. Friday, June 14, for a robbery near Washington and Lexington avenues. Police are asking for help in locating a woman from the region who has been missing for over a week. Saratoga County resident Brittney Jaworski, age 38, of Mechanicville, was last seen on Monday, June 10, according to Mechanicville Police. Investigators said she may be in Schuylerville, Mechanicville, Cohoes, or Albany. Jaworski is 5-foot-2 and 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a full sleeve tattoo on her right arm.
