Victim ID'd In Deadly Single-Vehicle Crash On Capital Region Highway
Authorities have identified a man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on a highway in the region. The Albany County wreck happened at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, on Route 7 in Watervliet, according to New York State Police. Akiem Keele, age 33, of Whitehall in Washington County, was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Route 7 at a high rate of speed when he struck a dividing barrier near the exit to I-787. A drone that was seen flying over several schools in the region sparked concerns among parents and prompted a police investigation. The unusual sight was spotted in Albany County on Thursday, Oct. 12, in the town of Bethlehem. Several people contacted the Bethlehem Police Department saying a drone was flying over Slingerlands Elementary, Eagle Elementary, and Bethlehem Central High schools. A teen driver is facing vehicular homicide and other charges for allegedly causing a drunk driving crash in the region that killed a 14-year-old honors student. The deadly wreck happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in Albany County, on I-890 in Colonie. New York State Police said the 17-year-old suspect was driving at a high rate of speed eastbound when they lost control and rolled the car several times. A family-owned Italian restaurant and pub in the region is closing after less than a year in business. Albany County eatery Joe’s Township Tavern, located in Knox at 1412 Township Road, closed on Saturday, Sept. 30, the company announced on Facebook. A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder months after allegedly gunning down a musician in the region. Saratoga County resident Jeff Henderson, of South Glens Falls, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in Albany County Court on Thursday, Sept. 14, in the death of Benjamin Rowe. Man's Body Found In Capital Region Park; Cause Of Death Revealed
Authorities have revealed the cause of death for a man whose body was found in a park in the region. The discovery was made shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in Albany County at Cohoes’ Heart Avenue Park, located near Heartt and Park avenues. Cohoes Police said the 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body showed no obvious signs of trauma and there was no indication of foul play, according to investigators.
