A deputy county executive in the region is accused of driving drunk. Albany County Deputy Executive Michael McLaughlin was arrested on suspicion of DWI following a traffic stop in the town of Colonie on Wednesday, May 1. New York State Police said McLaughlin was stopped on I-87 at around 11:20 p.m. and refused to provide a sample to determine his blood alcohol content. Classes were in session when a 16-year-old allegedly set fire to a high school in the region. The Albany County incident happened Tuesday, April 23, at Bethlehem High School. According to Bethlehem Police, the juvenile suspect intentionally started a fire in a school bathroom in the C wing. The Albany County wreck happened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, in Bethlehem, on State Route 85 near the Albany city limits. Bethlehem Police said a 28-year-old Saratoga County man from Clifton Park was driving westbound on Route 85 when he crossed over the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle.
