The deed requires that Bard preserve the estate, including its working farm. College President Leon Botstein promised to preserve public access to the estate. Deed restrictions also guarantee the permanent protection of the site’s historic, architectural, visual, and environmental resources.
The purchase will expand the campus to 1,000 contiguous acres.
Bard College was founded in 1860.
HHV was founded in 1951, and is based in Pocantico Hills. It is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit education and cultural organization that educates more than 20,000 schoolchildren each year in New York.
