Working in conjunction with the State Police Barracks in Middletown and Highland, state police said they arrested David M. Peres, 17, Bert McCormick, 18, and Quaheem M. Washington, 20 all of Highland Falls, for numerous counts of third-degree burglary.
Peres has been charged with six counts of third-degree burglary in Orange County after breaking into apple orchards in the Towns of Blooming Grove, Warwick and Wawayanda.
McCormick was charged with four counts of third-degree burglary in Orange County and an additional five counts of third-degree burglary in Ulster County.
Washington was also charged with five counts of third-degree burglary in Ulster County as numerous orchards were broken into in the Towns of Plattekill, Shawangunk and Gardiner, police said.
The three defendants were arrested following an extensive multi-agency investigation involving the Town of Highlands Police Department, Town of Warwick Police Department and Town of Blooming Grove Police Department in Orange County along with the Town of Plattekill Police Department and Town of Shawangunk Police Department in Ulster County.
Peres was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail, while both McCormick and Washington were arraigned and remanded to Ulster County Jail.
