New York State Troopers responded to Springwood Circle in the town of Hyde Park on the report of a domestic dispute by Dutchess County 911 on Wednesday, March 6 around 1:45 p.m.
Upon further investigation, police determined that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Brandon Godin of Hyde Park, had allegedly entered the residence and began to strangle the female victim.
Officers further allege that a male in the residence attempted to intervene and help the victim but was assaulted by Godin prior to police arrival, according to state police.
Godin was arrested and charged with:
- Second-degree strangulation, a class D felony
- Third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor
Godin was arraigned before the town of Hyde Park and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secure bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Friday, March 8.
