Joseph R. Pasqualina, 21, of Hyde Park was arrested after troopers received a complaint from a Rhinebeck residents who reported the violation, police said.
An investigation by troopers found that Pasqualina repeatedly sent text messages to the person who had been granted a protection order against the Hyde Park resident, police said.
Pasqualina was charged with criminal contempt and violation of parole.
The New York State Department of Parole and Community Supervision was contacted when troopers learned that Pasqualina was released under the supervision of parole on Dec. 15, for a robbery conviction. The arrest violated the terms of his parole.
Pasqualina was arraigned in the Town of Rhinebeck Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond. He is due to appear in Rhinebeck Court on Dec. 30.
State police were assisted by the New York State Department of Parole and Community Supervision.
