Born Curtis Roosevelt Dall in Manhattan on April 19, 1930, he was the son of Curtis Bean Dall and Anna, the only daughter of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Curtis, or "Buzzie," was only 3 when he left New York to live with his grandparents at the White House after his parents' split.
Roosevelt, who served in the U.S. Army and worked in publishing and pottery, would later write about his life at the White House during the Depression, and growing up in the public eye. He's also credited with saving his grandmother's Hyde Park home and property, known as Val-Kill, from development in the 1970s, The Washington Post reports.
He is survived by his fourth wife, Marina Jones; and Julianna Roosevelt, daughter from his first marriage; and grandson Nicholas Roosevelt. He also leaves behind his sister, Anna Eleanor Seagraves, and half-brother John Boettiger.
