PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Christopher J. Naughton, of Pleasant Valley, died Thursday, Nov. 10. He was 77.
He was born Dec. 21, 1938, in County Clare, Ireland to the late Martin and Lena Nihilla Naughton.
Together, in June 1950, he and his family moved from Ireland to Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School. He proudly served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army from 1962-64. He worked as project manager for IBM in Poughkeepsie for 35 years before his retirement in 1992. He was an active parishioner at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, serving as an usher on Sundays. He enjoyed his Irish culture and playing Irish music. He was a member of the Galway Blazers Band playing the accordion performing their Irish music. He often preformed their Irish music at the Kevin Barry Irish Club in Fishkill.
He is survived by his wife, Winifed; and sister, Phyllis and her spouse James Nolan.
He was predeceased by his siblings; William, Mary, Martin, Kathleen and Ann.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Church, 1590 Main St., Pleasant Valley. Burial will follow, with military honors, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
