Capital Region Fire Chief Killed In Accident Remembered As ‘Kind, Hardworking Family Man'
Tributes are pouring in for a beloved fire chief from the region following his untimely death.
In Columbia County, North Chatham Fire Department Chief Brent Gawron died Saturday, May 13, at his home in the hamlet of Malden Bridge, according to a GoFundMe campaign created the following day.
“Brent passed away last night in a tragic accident at home,” reads the campaign. “This loss is unimaginable for us all but especially for his wife, Erinn and their two daughters, Lucy and Penelope.”
The campaign’s creators, Jason and Catherine Squires, did not elaborate on a cause of death.

A native of Northern Westchester who served in the military and worked as a physical therapist has died.
Peter E. Clark, who was born in Mount Kisco and graduated from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, was age 62.
He died on Sunday, April 30, and was a longtime resident of Palm Harbor, Florida.
After growing up in Bedford and graduating high school, he joined the US Navy and served his time in honor of his country out at sea during the time of the Libyan Crisis, according to his obituary.

Rockland County resident Charles S. "Chuck" Scarpulla, of Valley Cottage, died on Tuesday, April 11 at age 81.
Scarpulla, the former Ramapo High School and Sleepy Hollow High School athletic director and Section 1 football coordinator was known for his coaching skills, but more importantly for listening, caring, and motivating young athletes.
