“Our movie day is a great example of how we in Dutchess County government think differently about our neighbors of all abilities – giving our children with special needs and their families a morning of stress-free fun in a welcoming environment," said County Executive Marc Molinaro. "While a trip to the movie theater can be a challenge for families of children with special needs, we’re happy to provide them this opportunity to enjoy time with their loved ones in a supportive atmosphere.”
Children with special needs and their families and support families are invited to the free movie event. Roosevelt Cinemas will adjust both lighting and sound to make the experience more enjoyable to children on the autism spectrum or with sensory issues.
The event is part of Dutchess County's celebration of Autism Awareness Month.
Reservations must be made before Wednesday, April 20, by calling 486-2000. Space is limited to the first 150 people who register.
The theater is at 4060 Post Road in Hyde Park.
