Locals Love Music, Food At Daryl's House Club In Dutchess

PAWLING, N.Y. - Sitting on Route 22, where it nearly kisses the Putnam-Dutchess border, Daryl's House Club has quietly (ok, maybe not-so-quietly) built a reputation among area residents as being 'the place to be.'

And why not? The club, famously owned by rocker Daryl Hall (who films his TV show 'Live From Daryl's House' without an audience at the club), features world-class entertainment and top-shelf food in an intimate venue, where you can reserve your table, eat a dinner, then watch a show on a stage so close you can reach out and touch.

Daryl's House Club also offers brunch on weekends, with live entertainment and no cover charge (check out photos of this Sunday's live performance brunch).

And the Club is about to add another new wrinkle: the addition of an outdoor concert venue that will seat over 1,000. Todd Rundgren and Howard Jones are scheduled for opening weekend - May 28 & 29. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are set to debut the new venue on Friday May 27.

"I love it," Bernadette Tyrrell of Brewster told Daily Voice at Sunday's brunch. "I've been here for shows, and the brunches are great - because you have free jazz music on Saturdays, then bluegrass on Sundays. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is great too."

"This is my first time here, and I'm really enjoying myself," said Amanda Balint, of Poughkeepsie. "The food is wonderful, the music is great, and I intend to come back."

"I like that they have the Peekskill beer, the people are friendly and the food is good," said Toby Barnett of Hopewell.

"We've been doing the brunches for around six or eight months," said Daryl's House Club's Jean Crea, who helped greet guests as they walked in Sunday. "People love the food, they love the free music, they love the atmosphere. The brunches are wonderful."

Crea said the most common question is - "Is Daryl coming in today?" "They all want to tell him they love him," she said. "Some want to leave him stuff sometimes," she laughed.

Crea said people are buzzing about the new outdoor venue. "We are so excited about the outdoor thing," she said. "It's going to be the only thing like this around that's going to be up to that level of music. So everyone's excited about it."
