Dutchess Celebrates Independence Day With Riverside Celebration POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - It seemed like most of Dutchess County was on the Poughkeepsie waterfront Saturday night, as the city celebrated the Fourth of July with lots of activities prior to the night's highlight - a fireworks display near the Mid Hudson Bridge. Two of the area's more popular restaurants - both with riverfront views - were packed, as those lucky enough to get a table were able to grab a bite and watch the fireworks at Shadows on the Hudson or the Poughkeepsie Ice House on the Hudson.
