Cop Impersonator Pulls Shield, Phony ID During Southampton Traffic Stop, Police Say A routine traffic stop led to a Long Island man in handcuffs, accused of impersonating a police officer. Southampton Town Police stopped a driver for alleged vehicle and traffic law violations on County Road 39 in Southampton on Thursday, Sept. 26. When the officer asked the man for his ID, he presented a police shield and claimed to work for the Suffolk County Police Department. He then presented a police identification card. Cop-Impersonator Handcuffs Woman At Long Island Deli, Police Say A man is accused of handcuffing a woman while impersonating a police officer at a Long Island business. The incident happened in Roosevelt, at the Ruby Deli on Nassau Road, at around 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. Nassau County Police said two women were having an argument when one woman’s boyfriend, 57-year-old Leonardo Argueta, approached and identified himself as an undercover police detective. He then put the other woman in handcuffs, police said. When the victim and bystanders threatened to call 911, Argueta removed the handcuffs and fled the scene.
