2 Nabbed For Cocaine Possession In Region During Traffic Stop: Police Two people were busted for alleged felony cocaine possession during a routine traffic stop by New York State Police in the Hudson Valley. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9:20 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, in East Fishkill. According to Trooper AJ Hicks, members of the department's Community Stabilization Unit conducted a traffic stop of a 2020 BMW 530 Series on the Taconic State Parkway for violations of the vehicle and traffic laws. 45-Year-Old Killed After Losing Control Of Car, Hitting Trees On Taconic Parkway, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was killed after allegedly losing control of his 2023 Toyota Camry and hitting several trees. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange. According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, an investigation determined Putnam County resident Vikrant K. Sharma, age 45, of Putnam Valley, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and left the roadway for unknown reasons before striking several trees.   Sharma was pronounced dead on the scene by responding paramedics, Hicks said…

Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Region Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Region
Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Region A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

2 People Rescued After Cars Crash, Flip Into Swift Water Below Taconic Parkway Two people had to cross a ladder over fast-moving water to get to safety after their cars crashed and overturned next to a stream during heavy rain in Northern Westchester.  The rescue happened on Sunday, Aug. 18 at around 4:30 p.m., when two vehicles crashed and flipped on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown, eventually ending up in a stream 100 feet off the road, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.  Because of heavy rain that had just passed through the area, the normally small stream had turned into a "swift water scenario," the department said, …

Months-Long Closure Of Roadway In Northern Westchester Starts A months-long closure of a roadway in the region is now underway. The New York State Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling in Northern Westchester County that Illington Road will be closed at the Taconic State Parkway in the Village of Ossining. The DOT said the closure, from Monday, July 29, through Monday, Nov. 18, is to facilitate a bridge rehabilitation project, weather permitting. Motorists should follow the posted detour as an alternate. The roadway closure is necessary to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of key bridges in the Hudson Valley.

2 Hospitalized After Crash On Busy Parkway In Northern Westchester Two people were taken to a trauma center after a serious crash on a parkway entrance ramp in Northern Westchester, including one person who had to be rescued from a vehicle.  The crash happened on Monday, July 15, when two cars collided on the Taconic State Parkway southbound entrance ramp leading from Crompond Road (Route 202) in Yorktown, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
