Driveway Paving Scammers Targeting Residents In Region Authorities in the Hudson Valley are warning residents to be on the lookout for scammers claiming to be from a paving company.  The Putnam County Sheriff's Office detailed the scam in an announcement on Thursday, Oct. 17, saying that the suspects targeted a resident in Brewster.  According to authorities, two men approached a resident and claimed to be from a paving company that had leftover asphalt from a previous job. Beloved Firefighter Dies After Over 25 Years Of Service In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley fire department is mourning the loss of one of its active members who served his community for more than a quarter of a century.  The death of Robert "Link" Linkenhoker was announced by Putnam County's Brewster Fire Department on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Crash Temporarily Closes Road In Region, Causes Injury A vehicle was left on its side following a crash in the Hudson Valley that caused an hour-long road closure.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Friday afternoon, Oct. 4, when vehicles collided on Starr Ridge Road near Danbury Road (Route 202) in Brewster, according to the Brewster Fire Department.  One driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.  According to the department, Starr Ridge Road was closed for around an hour as the crash site was cleared. The cause was not detailed.

Car Bursts Into Flames, Shuts Down I-84 Stretch In Region A stretch of Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley was temporarily closed to traffic after a car went up in flames on the shoulder.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Saturday evening, Sept. 21, when a vehicle caught on fire on Interstate 84 West in Brewster, according to the village's fire department. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 8 a.m., Thursday, June 13, on Route 52 at the intersection of Leetown Road in the town of East Fishkill.
