NY Man Sentenced For 'Terrorizing Young Women, Coercing Them Into Commercial Sex Acts'
A New York man will spend decades behind bars for forcing women to engage in prostitution. Long Island resident Justin Rivera, age 32, of Amityville, was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison Tuesday, Oct. 11, in US District Court in Manhattan. The sentence followed an eight-day jury trial in June 2021 in which he was convicted of conspiring to sex traffic two victims. At Least 10 Staff Members Injured In Fight At Capital District Prison
At least 10 staff members were injured in an attack by inmates at a maximum security prison in the region. Individuals who are incarcerated at Coxsackie Correctional Facility in Greene County assaulted security personnel on Monday, Aug. 1, the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision reported on Tuesday, Aug. 2. Four of the staff members were hospitalized for injuries that included head trauma and blood exposure. Two women were shot and police found dozens of shell casings in three Hudson Valley locations during a night of violence. The incidents took place in the City of Poughkeepsie beginning shortly after 10 p.m., on Monday, June 13. Poughkeepsie 911 received multiple calls reporting shots fired in the area of Winnikee Avenue and Harrison Street, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark of the City of Poughkeepsie PD. One person was seriously wounded after being stabbed during a dispute in front of a Hudson Valley grocery store. The incident took place in Dutchess County in the City of Poughkeepsie around 1:10 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, Police responded to the Market Fresh store at 534 Main St., after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a fight, said Det. 18-Year-Old Accused Of Stabbing Man During Melee In Capital District
A young man is recovering after he was reportedly stabbed during a melee in the Capital District. Saratoga Springs Police were called at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, with reports of an altercation near a parking garage on Woodlawn Avenue, police said. The caller told dispatchers that a fight had broken out involving between 15 and 20 people, but by the time officers arrived at the scene the group had dispersed, police said.
