Sex Offender From Region Nabbed For Failing To Register, Police Say
A sex offender from the region is behind bars after allegedly failing to register under state law. Sullivan County resident Pedro Correa, age 57, of the village of Liberty was charged on Monday, Dec. 11, during a routine check of sex offenders in the area. Village of Liberty Police Chief Steven D'Agata said under the law all individuals designated as sex offenders as a result of a criminal conviction for a sex offense are required to register their physical address and certain internet accounts and identifiers. 29-Year-Old Threatens Victim With Machete In Region, Police Say
A 29-year-old man was nabbed for attacking another person with a machete on a busy street in the region. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4 on Main Street in the Village of Liberty. According to Liberty Police, a dispatcher monitoring the department's Main Street surveillance cameras spotted what appeared to be two people involved in a fight. Officers were dispatched and upon their arrival saw Brandon Luciano, of Callicoon, with a machete in his hand menacing another person, police said. Woman Charged After 2-Year-Old Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center With Serious Injuries
A woman from the region is facing criminal charges after a toddler was found bleeding in a bathroom. In Sullivan County, Village of Liberty Police were called to a home at around 6 p.m. Sunday, May 29, with reports of a two-year-old child bleeding uncontrollably from his leg, according to police. When officers arrived, they found the boy suffering from two large lacerations to his leg and immediately began applying pressure to try and stop the bleeding, police said.
