21-Year-Old Accused In Shooting That Injured 2 Young Girls In Capital Region
Weeks after a shooting in the region left two young girls injured, police have arrested a 21-year-old suspect.
Keovion Goodwine, of Troy, was taken into custody Tuesday, July 2, on attempted murder and related charges. Troy Police did not publicize the arrest until Tuesday, July 16.
According to investigators, Goodwine shot two girls, ages 11 and 14, near Fourth and Madison streets shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 12. Both victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two of three defendants have been convicted for their roles in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy from the region.
A Rensselaer County jury found Ramel Gulley, age 29, of Schenectady, and William Webb, age 30, of Brooklyn, guilty of second-degree murder on Friday, March 22, in the killing of Christopher Anthony.
Prosecutors said Gulley, Webb, and a third defendant forced their way into Anthony’s Troy home, located near River Street and Glen Avenue, on Jan. 5, 2022.

Child Sex Abuse: Capital Region Man Raped 13-Year-Old Girl, Police Say
A 74-year-old man from the region is facing charges for allegedly sexually abusing a minor, authorities said.
Rensselaer County resident Perry Ransford, of Troy, was arrested Monday, July 3, following a joint investigation by the Troy Police Department and other agencies that spanned several months.
According to investigators, Ransford raped a 13-year-old girl who visited his Troy apartment, located on 6th Avenue, in February 2023.
The two had no prior relationship with one another, police said.

Tragic Update: Missing Capital Region Man Found Dead
Nearly a week after a 55-year-old man from the region went missing, the search for him has ended in tragedy.
Rensselaer County resident Michael Hart, of Troy, had last been seen at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, on Marvin Avenue in Troy, according to police.
On Friday, June 9, Troy Police announced that search crews found Hart dead in a wooded area in South Troy.
His death is under investigation, but does not appear suspicious, Assistant Police Chief Steven Barker said in a statement.

Authorities are asking for help in locating a missing vulnerable adult from the region.
Rensselaer County resident Michael Hart, age 55, of Troy, was last seen at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, on Marvin Avenue in Troy, according to police.
Hart is developmentally disabled and may be in need of medical attention.
He is described as a white male, 5-feet-9-inches tall and 220 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes.

Missing 13-Year-Old From Capital Region Found Safe, Police Say

A 13-year-old girl who was reported missing in the region has been located, authorities announced.
Rensselaer County resident Francis Jett, of Troy, had last been seen Thursday, Nov. 17, leaving Knickerbocker Middle School in Lansingburgh, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, police said Jett had been found safe and returned home.
“We would like to thank you all for your help and the post shares,” the Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
