Orange County resident Chauncey Smith, age 23, of Pine Bush, was sentenced on Tuesday, July 16, to three to nine years in prison in connection with the Monday, August 14, 2023 crash, said Orange County District Attorney David M. The incident occurred in Orange County a little after midnight on Sunday, June 9, in the city of Newburgh. According to Mike Neppl, spokesman for the Newburgh Police, responding officers located a victim who was dead of a gunshot wound in the area of 7 Monument St. A second victim was located at Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh with a non-life-threatening injury, Neppl said. Alert Issued For Wanted Hudson Valley Man Police issued an alert about a 35-year-old man who is wanted after failing to show up to court appearances in the Hudson Valley. Michael Scialabba was arrested in April and May for petit larceny but failed to show up to any court appearances, according to an alert from the Town of Newburgh Police Department on Wednesday, July 20. Scialabba is described as being 5-foot-7, 148 pounds, and bald with blue eyes, police said. Authorities asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to call Newburgh Police at 845-564-1100.
