Movie Theater In Region Closes After Decades In Business After some 36 years of keeping the residents in the Hudson Valley entertained, a popular movie theater that has been owned by the same person for the past 20 years has closed. Known for its matinees and friendly employees, Showtime Cinemas in Orange County, located in the town of Newburgh on Route 300, ran its last film on Sunday, Sept. 15. "Since 2020, we have had a massive battle to fight, and we overcame it with the help and support of the local and surrounding communities," the owners said on Facebook. Hudson Valley Woman Killed In 3-Vehicle Crash A 68-year-old Hudson Valley woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash when a box truck allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic. The crash took place in Orange County around 9:40 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7 on Route 300 in the town of Newburgh. According to Lt. Peter Talarico of the town of Newburgh Police, an investigation shows a 2019 Ford box truck was northbound on Route 300, approaching a curve in the roadway when it appears to have crossed onto the southbound lane and struck a 2019 Dodge Ram. Hudson Valley Thief With 12 Previous Larcenies Caught Again, Police Say A Hudson Valley man who has allegedly been nabbed for 12 larcenies this year and has 10 additional outstanding, has been arrested again. Orange County resident Jeffrey Odom, age 33, of Newburgh, was arrested on Thursday, March 23 at the Walmart located at 1201 Route 300 in Newburgh. Town of Newburgh Police responded to Walmart for the report of a larceny in progress and found Odom was fighting with an officer, said Lt. Peter Talarico, of the Newburgh Police. Suspect Nabbed In Attempted Robbery At Bank Of America Branch In Hudson Valley A man wanted in connection with an attempted Hudson Valley bank robbery was nabbed by police. Orange County resident Basil Martusevich, age 56, of the town of Newburgh, was caught around 10:45 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4. The attempted robbery took place in the town of Newburgh around 5 p.m. Friday at the Bank of America, located at 1414 Route 300, said Lt. Peter Talarico. During the attempted robbery, Martusevich threatened a teller with a gun and then fled the scene, Talarico said.
