Duo Nabbed For Having Fires Amid Burn Ban In Hudson Valley: Police Two 46-year-old men received summonses after having fires on their properties in the region amid a statewide burn ban, authorities said.  Both incidents happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Nov. 17, and were in violation of Gov. Major Brush Fire In Region Spreads Smoke For Miles A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27. 23-Year-Old Killed, 3 Injured In Head-On Crash In Area A 23-year-old man was killed and three others injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash in the area. The crash took place in Putnam Valley around 8:55 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27 on Wood St. Putnam Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said deputies were dispatched to Wood Street near Meadow Crest Drive for an automobile accident with injuries.  Deputies, along with members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department arrived on the scene and began extrication and medical aid for the occupants of the two vehicles involved, police said.
