Mother From Region Nabbed For Beating Kids With Foam Baseball Bat, Police Say A Hudson Valley mother has been charged with allegedly beating her two children with a foam baseball bat, causing injuries. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 2:20 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, in Stony Point. According to Lt. Daniel Schoales of the Stony Point Police, officers responded to Nyack Hospital to investigate a domestic incident. The investigation revealed that two juveniles revealed that their mother, Kimberly Rivas, age 33, of Stony, had used a foam baseball bat to strike both juveniles several times, causing injuries, Schoales said.  Rivas was arrest…

Person Walks Into Hospital In Region With Gunshot Wound, Police Say An investigation is underway after authorities say a person entered a hospital in the Hudson Valley with a gunshot wound. At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 in Rockland County, the the Orangetown Police Department said it was notified of the male patient that walked into Nyack Hospital with a non-life-threatening wound that allegedly occurred in the village of Nyack.  The incident is currently under investigation by the Orangetown PD Detective Bureau. 2-Year-Old Struck, Killed By SUV In Region An investigation is underway after a 2-year-old girl was struck and killed by a van in the Hudson Valley. The incident occurred in Rockland County at 3:10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, on Calvert Drive in the village of Kaser in Ramapo. According to Ramapo Police Lt. Michael Gannon, responding officers found the child was struck by a 2014 Honda Odyssey and had sustained life-threatening injuries.  The girl was transported to Nyack Hospital by Hatzolah Ambulance and later died from her injuries, Gannon said.
