Fatal Shooting Leads To Standoff With Police In Capital Region Police in the Capital Region were engaged in an armed standoff with the suspect in a fatal shooting Friday evening, Sept. 30, NewsChannel 13 reports. Police in Albany were called to the 400 block of Hamilton Street just before 4 p.m Friday with reports of a shooting, Albany Police spokesperson Steve Smith said. Nearly an hour later, Smith said the victim had died and the shooting was being investigated as a homicide. Published Author ID'd As Victim In Fatal Hit, Run Crash In Capital District A woman who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in the region has been identified as a published author. Police in Albany were called at around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, with reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car on Clinton Avenue near North Swan Street. Investigators said the victim, 31-year-old Tanisha Brathwaite, of Albany, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brathwaite was crossing Clinton Avenue on foot when she was hit by a car in the middle of the street, police said.  The driver was last seen heading eastbound, toward the Palace Theatre. In Albany County, firefighters in Watervliet were called at around 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28th, with reports of a residential fire near 6th Avenue and 23rd Street. Multiple homes were impacted by the fire but there were no reports of injuries, according to the Watervliet Fire Department.
