A county in the Hudson Valley is moving to advance legislation that would prevent other municipalities, including New York City, from sending migrants and asylum seekers to facilities within its borders. A fourth Hudson Valley county has executed a State of Emergency in an effort to stop New York City from sending migrants and asylum seekers, in addition to enacting three executive orders. New York Republican Assemblyman Kevin Byrne will officially be Putnam County's next executive after securing a victory on Election Day. Byrne, age 37, who currently serves as assemblyman representing New York's 94th District, earned over 28,000 votes after running unopposed, according to a statement from his campaign.
