Large Brush Fire Breaks Out At State Park In Region For two days, numerous Hudson Valley fire departments battled a stubborn brush fire atop Nordkop Mountain. The fire occurred in Rockland County on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, in Harriman State Park in Hillburn. The Hillburn Fire Department, with the assistance of several fire departments and New York State Park rangers, battled the blaze that consumed acres. According to the Hillburn Fire Department, firefighters cut fire lines and worked to put out the blaze, which they described as "difficult and stubborn." 4 Hudson Valley Teens Face Hate Crime Charges For Anti-Semitic Slurs, Firing Pellet Gun Five Hudson Valley teens have been charged with hate crimes for allegedly yelling anti-Semitic slurs and shooting a pellet gun at individuals.  The incidents occurred in Rockland County in Ramapo on two dates in April. According to Det. Sgt. Michael Higgins of the Ramapo Police, the first two teens were arrested on Friday, April 19, for aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Embezzling Nearly $100K From Soccer Club Following a six-month investigation, a Hudson Valley man has been charged with allegedly embezzling some $100,000 from a soccer club. According to the Ramapo Police, a 35-year-old Hillburn resident was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. The department said the charges allege that between 2020 and 2022, the man embezzled more than $95,000 from the Ramapo Valley Soccer Club. The person charged was not named by the Ramapo Police Department. He was arraigned and released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
