Fatal Crash In Region: 26-Year-Old ID'd As Victim A two-vehicle crash in the region claimed the life of one person and injured another. The collision occurred in Orange County at 11:15 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, on Route 32 in Newburgh. According to the town of Newburgh Police Lt. Matthew Nadolny, a preliminary investigation determined that a 2007 Ford Econoline van, operated by Leonel Marquez-Martinez, age 36, of Wallkill, was traveling southbound on  Route 32.  Nadolny said a 2015 Chevrolet Volt operated by Marcus Bennett, age 26, of Montgomery, was traveling northbound when the two crashed. 19-Year-Old From Region Drowns In Home Pool A 19-year-old Hudson Valley man died after being found unresponsisve in a home pool. The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15 on Meadow Streeet in the town of Newburgh. According to Lt. Matthew Nadolny of the town of Newburgh Police, when patrol arrived, they found they found the teen  unresponsive in the pool.  Officers were able to pull him from the water and began life-saving measures. Hudson Valley Fire Leaves 24 Homeless, Injures 2 At least two residential buildings were destroyed during a two-alarm fire in the Hudson Valley that left 24 people homeless. The incident occurred in Orange County at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at 59 and 61 Carter St., in the city of Newburgh. According to Mike Neppl, a spokesman for the Newburgh Fire Department, arriving units found the rear of 59 and 61 Carter Street fully involved with fire, which was spreading to the interior of the buildings.  Neppl said crews stretched handlines into the interior and began bringing the fire down and searching for hidden fire. Man Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley man was killed during a large house fire overnight. The fire took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8 on Babes Lanes in the town of Newburgh. Police and firefighters responded to a home on Babes Lane after receiving 911 calls reporting smoke and fire, said Lt. Peter Talarico, of the town of Newburgh Police.
