For Christopher Knable, that’s a wrap on seven years of serving up comfort food with a side of “old fashioned values.” His Columbia County cafe and bakery, Main St. Goodness – located in Chatham at 20 Main Street – will permanently close on Sunday, Feb. 11. HS Coach, Personal Trainer From Capital Region Dies At Age 34; Remembered As 'Kind, Genuine'
Students and colleagues are mourning the loss of a beloved high school football coach and personal trainer from the region following his untimely death. Columbia County resident Michael LaCasse, of Hudson, died Friday, Jan. 19 at the age of 34 following a brief illness, according to his obituary. LaCasse was a 2007 graduate of Hudson High School, where he developed a passion for athletics, lettering in football, baseball, and track, his memorial said. New Update: Teens From Capital Region Missing For 2 Weeks Located
Two teenagers from the region have been located weeks after going missing. Columbia County residents Aubrey Congemi, age 15, and Briana Carlton, age 17, had last been seen in the hamlet of Elizaville on Sunday, Dec. 17. At the time, New York State Police said the girls had recently moved to the area from Albany and were known to hang around the Colonie Center and Crossgates Mall shopping areas. A man is accused of breaking into a woman’s home in the region on Christmas Eve and robbing her. Police in Columbia County were called shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24 about a break-in at the Hudson Terrace Apartments in the city of Hudson. The victim told investigators that a man had forced his way into her apartment before approaching her and stealing her cell phone. Contractor Steals $85K From Capital Region Business, Police Say
A contractor from the Hudson Valley is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a business in the region. In Columbia County, a man contacted the Hudson City Police Department in October 2023 saying that a substantial sum of money had been stolen from his company’s bank account. A closer look revealed that over $85,000 had been pilfered from his account between November 2022 and October 2023. Five people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash that caused the closure of a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway. It happened in Dutchess County on Friday, Nov. 24 on the northbound side in La Grange. Fiery Crash: Man Killed, Woman Hospitalized In Critical Condition After Capital Region Wreck
A man is dead following a fiery, two-vehicle crash in the region that also left a woman hospitalized. The Columbia County wreck happened at around 5:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, in the town of Greenport on State Route 23. Troopers and firefighters from the Greenport Fire Department responded to the intersection of Ponderosa Drive where they found two vehicles fully engulfed in flames, according to New York State Police.
