The incident occurred in Dutchess County near New Hamburgh and the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 3. According to Chief Jeffrey Renihan of the New Hamburg Fire Department, the department responded to a water emergency call that four people and two animals were hanging on a 17-foot boat that had capsized in the Hudson River. Albany County resident Michael Furch, age 34, of Guilderland, died following a single-vehicle crash on I-787 in Albany on Thursday, June 20. New York State Police said Furch was operating a motorcycle when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier while exiting I-787 on the flyover ramp to I-90. Dutchess County Sheriff's Office members discovered the cats at a home in Dover on Saturday, May 4. According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to the home for a report of animal cruelty. Upon investigation, 90 cats were in poor health and were rescued by deputies and volunteer animal rescue workers.
