Swing In Temperatures Coming As Cold Front Will Push Through Northeast

One of the driest months on record is coming with a price.

According to the National Weather Service, many parts of the region have seen just a quarter inch of rain so far this month.

"The ongoing dry conditions are, in some cases, causing leaves to fall earlier than usual, affecting leaf peeping in several places and increasing the risk of wildfires, especially during windy conditions," AccuWeather.com says.

Areas shaded in brown in the image above have seen the driest conditions this month.

It will stay dry into next week.

Friday, Oct. 25, will be sunny, with temperatures mainly in the low 60s.

Winds will pick up on Saturday, Oct. 26, ahead of the arrival of a cold front that will swing temperatures.

Wind speeds will be between 5 and 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

As the frontal system moves through, temperatures will fall into the 30s Saturday night into Sunday, Oct. 27.

It will remain breezy on Sunday, making it feel cooler. Temperatures will top out in the mid-50s.

Look for another cool day on Monday, Oct. 28, with temps again in the 50s and sunny skies.

The outlook for Tuesday, Oct. 29, calls for mostly sunny skies, with temperatures rebounding to the low 60s.
