Alert Issued For Missing 25-Year-Old Hudson Valley Woman
A 25-year-old woman from the region has gone missing, and authorities are asking the public's help in locating her. New York State Police issued an alert on Tuesday, July 23, following the disappearance of Dutchess County resident Maria Ortiz, of Poughkeepsie. Police noted that "Maria is small in stature," and has brown eyes, black hair, and of a thin build. The images shown above are the only ones available at this time, police said. Authorities have identified two men who were killed when a small plane crashed at a New York airport moments after taking off. The incident happened on Long Island at MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma around 6:15 p.m. Monday, July 22. Suffolk County Police said a single engine Beechcraft Bonanza A36 took off heading south from the airport and was attempting to return to the same runway when it crashed. Woman Injured In Stabbing Attack In Capital Region
A woman is recovering after she was repeatedly stabbed on a residential street in the region. The attack happened in Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood, on North Pearl Street near Wilson Street, at around 5:40 p.m. Monday, July 22. Albany Police said officers arrived to find a 46-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds to her arm and leg. She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital where she remains in stable condition. Three people were killed in a head-on highway crash in the region. The Greene County wreck happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, on Route 23 in the town of Windham. Sheriff’s officials said a Buick SUV was heading eastbound on State Route 23 when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck near the intersection of Cross Road. Two passengers in the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third Buick passenger died at Albany Medical Center. Two people died, and dozens of others sickened in a Listeria outbreak tied to deli meats in several states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A Hudson Valley man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for arranging his neighbor's murder. Orange County resident Enoch Lowe, age 25, of Wallkill, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in Orange County Court on Thursday, July 18, following convictions for murder and related charges in the death of Jeffrey Harris.
