The incident occurred in Rockland County at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at the intersection of W. Maple Avenue and Kings Point in Ramapo.
According to Ramapo Police Sgt. Michael Anton, a preliminary investigation revealed that two pedestrians were crossing W. Maple Ave westbound at the street corner when a vehicle traveling northbound struck both.
One of the pedestrians, a 70-year-old man, was thrown into the southbound lane and was struck by a separate vehicle traveling south, Anton said.
The 70-year-old was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern by Hatzolah Ambulance Corp, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash, Anton said.
The second pedestrian, a 51-year-old man, was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
The names of the victims have not been released pending notification.
Both drivers remained on the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Town of Ramapo Police Crash Investigation Unit.
