2-Alarm Fire Tears Through Home In Hudson Valley, Brings Heavy Response Firefighters battled an intense house fire in Dutchess County that required a second alarm and help from multiple departments.  The blaze began in Wappingers Falls just after noon on Sunday, Jan. 4, when Hughsonville firefighters were dispatched to 218 Old Hopewell Rd. after an alarm sounded, the Hughsonville Fire Department said. Moments later, Dutchess 911 upgraded the call to a reported structure fire based on additional information from the caller, according to the department. Blaze Shuts Down Route 59 In Hudson Valley A structure fire has forced the closure of a major stretch of Route 59 in Rockland County Tuesday afternoon, April 29, causing significant traffic disruptions, authorities announced.   As of 3:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Route 59 is closed in both directions between Waldron Avenue and Chestnut Street due to a structure fire at 103 Route 59, the Clarkstown Police Department said.
