Ulster County Man Used Large Piece Of Wood In Violent Altercation: Police A Hudson Valley man is behind bars for allegedly using a large piece of wood (2x4) during a violent fight that seriously injured a 34-year-old man.  The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the victim's home on Route 209 in Wawarsing, said Trooper Jennifer Alvarez of the New York State Police. According to Alvarez, During the altercation, Eudomar Demacedo, age 31, of Ellenville, struck the victim multiple times with a 2x4. Decade-Old Mystery Unraveled: Police Identify Remains As Missing NY Woman After nearly a decade, police in New York have identified human remains found in a wooded preserve as those of Amanda King, who vanished in November 2013.  King's remains were found in Rensselaer County in Troy on Sunday, Oct. 20, near Campbell Avenue in the. Man Rapes Hudson Valley Girl He Met Online, Then Drops Her Off At School, Police Say A man from the region who allegedly raped a Hudson Valley 15-year-old girl and then dropped her off at school has been charged by state police.  Albany County resident Benjamin Randall, age 22, of Cohoes, was charged on Monday, Aug. 26, in Ulster County in Ellenville on rape charges. According to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, the department received a complaint in April from the 15-year-old that she met Randall on a social media site in March.  After speaking online for several weeks, she agreed to meet with Randall after school. ShopRite In Hudson Valley To Close After over 30 years in business, a popular ShopRite store in the region will close this summer. The 55,500-square-foot store, located in Ulster County in Ellenville, at 1 ShopRite Boulevard off Route 209, was opened in 1993 by Wakefern Food Corporation in New Jersey. According to Karen O'Shea, the corporation's spokeswoman, the store did not renew its lease and will close on Saturday, Aug. 31.
