An employee at a school in Northern Westchester County has been accused of abusing a student. New York State Police from the Somers barracks announced on Monday night, Aug. 19, that the alleged incident occurred earlier this month at the Westchester Exceptional Children's School in North Salem. Woman Tried To Set Her Mother On Fire After Dousing Home In Region In Gas: Police
A woman from the region is facing multiple felonies after police say she tried to set her mother on fire and burn down their home over the weekend. Saratoga County resident Ashley L. Millington, age 31, of Milton, is charged with attempted arson in the second degree and arson in the third degree, the Saratoga Springs Sheriff's Office said. A neighbor called deputies to the Paisley Road home just before midnight on Sunday, Aug. 18, for a mental health disturbance. Missing 28-Year-Old From Region Found Safe
New Update: A 28-year-old Hudson Valley man who went missing after last being seen boarding a train in Northern Westchester has been found safe. In an announcement on Tuesday night, Aug. 20, the Carmel Police Department in Putnam County said that Bekim Gjonbalaj, age 28, was found in good health after last being seen boarding a train at the Croton Falls Train Station in the town of North Salem on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 4:50 a.m. More information about where Gjonbalaj was found was not released. 2 People Rescued After Cars Crash, Flip Into Swift Water Below Parkway In Hudson Valley
Two people had to cross a ladder over fast-moving water to get to safety after their cars crashed and overturned next to a stream during heavy rain in Northern Westchester. The rescue happened on Sunday, Aug. 18 at around 4:30 p.m., when two vehicles crashed and flipped on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown, eventually ending up in a stream 100 feet off the road, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Car Crashes Over Guardrail, Causing Closure Of Hudson Valley Road
A busy Hudson Valley road was closed for around an hour after a vehicle crashed over the guardrail into the woods. The crash happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Aug. 18 around 3:30 p.m., when a car crashed over a guardrail on Route 32 (Crane Road) in the area of Angela Drive in the town of Carmel, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. No injuries were reported and both the driver and passenger refused ambulance trips. Route 32 was closed for about an hour as the vehicle was towed away.

39-Year-Old Man Killed In Hudson Valley Crash
A man was killed in a three-vehicle crash that caused an hours-long closure on a busy Northern Westchester road, police said. Brandon Plunkett, age 39, died in the crash on Thursday, Aug. 15 in North Castle that happened at around 3:30 p.m. on northbound Route 22 between Route 120 and Old Orchard Street, North Castle Police announced on Monday, Aug. 19. A woman jumped to her death from an upper floor inside a busy Hudson Valley mall. Hudson Valley Man Nabbed For Pair Of Commercial Burglaries, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was nabbed for two alleged commercial burglaries within the past week. Rockland County resident Brawian Olivero Duran, age 22, of Haverstraw, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 15. Hudson Valley 19-Year-Old Drowns In Home Pool
A 19-year-old Hudson Valley man died after being found unresponsisve in a home pool. The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15 on Meadow Streeet in the town of Newburgh. According to Lt. Matthew Nadolny of the town of Newburgh Police, when patrol arrived, they found they found the teen unresponsive in the pool. A teenager who admitted to shooting and killing a father of five outside of a Family Dollar in the Capital Region last year will spend more than 20 years behind bars, authorities said. Jahteek Sanchez, age 17 or 18, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Rensselaer County Court on Friday, May 17, in the death of Alexander Crawford, the Rensselaer County District Office said on Thursday, Aug. 15. A section of a busy road in the Hudson Valley was closed for an extended period of time following a serious crash. Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 18-year-old man who was last seen in Westchester. Jasiah Jones was reported missing on Thursday, Aug. 15 after last being seen on Jackson Avenue in Yonkers on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at around 10:20 p.m., according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
