A man in the United States illegally is accused of running a sex trafficking ring on Long Island. Jorge Ramos, 55, was arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking and related charges Thursday, Feb. 20, according to Nassau County Police. An investigation found that Ramos, of Astoria, Queens, forced victims to engage in prostitution in Nassau County from July 2024 to February of this year, police said. A 24-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove has been identified, Suffolk County Police announced on Sunday, Feb. 2. Sampada Aduulla, of Lake Grove, was struck by an eastbound vehicle near Hallock Road at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, police said. The driver fled the scene. Aduulla was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police. Bank Robber Sought After Targeting Long Island Branch
A suspect is on the run after robbing a Long Island bank. The incident occurred in Patchogue, at the TD Bank located near Montauk Highway and Medford Avenue, at around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
