Oleg Beretsky, 67, was indicted on health care fraud, money laundering, and related charges in Brooklyn federal court on Tuesday, March 18.
It followed accusations he used his former Plainview company, Obest Inc., to funnel senior citizens to certain doctors in exchange for bribes. Many of the alleged victims were immigrants from the former Soviet Union.

Long Island resident Wilkens Adonis, 39, of Holbrook, entered the formal plea in Suffolk County Court on Monday, March 17, in the death of his 14-month-old son, Joseph.
Suffolk County Police were called to Adonis’ residence on the morning of Jan. 3, 2024, for an unresponsive child, prosecutors said. They found the boy unconscious in a bedroom shared by Adonis and the boy’s mother, Daryllee Leibrook.

BJA Renovations Corp., a North Babylon-based asbestos removal and demolition company, and its manager, Joseph Demasco, 67, pleaded guilty to failing to pay more than $80,000 in required wages in Nassau County Court on Friday, March 14.
The wages were owed for work performed at schools in the Merrick and Oceanside Union Free School Districts between 2019 and 2021, according to the Nassau County DA’s office.
