26-Year-Old Drowns In Capital Region Lake While Out With Family
A 26-year-old Capital Region man was pulled from a lake over the weekend after he drowned while out with his family, authorities said. Police in Rensselaer County were called to Poestenkill Gorge Park on Linden Avenue in Troy just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1. A Troy man had gone into the water and not resurfaced. Bystanders pulled him out, but it was too late. Responders performed CPR and rushed him to an area hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, Troy police said. The man's name wasn't released. 8 Pounds Of Meth Seized In Capital Region Traffic Stop; Man Busted After Chase
Police say a man from the region attempted to escape after they found eight pounds of methamphetamines during a traffic stop earlier this week, but he didn't make it very far. Rensselaer County resident Terrence Ravenell, age 28, of Troy, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and charged with multiple felonies, Troy police said. Police were called to an area on Lincoln Avenue to reports of suspicious activity on Tuesday night. They found Ravenell in a parked car near the intersection with Seward Street. Routine Traffic Stop Lands 5 Capital Region Teens In Handcuffs; No Room Left In Juvenile Jail
Police arrested five boys — the youngest being 15 — after they found illegal pistols during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Rensselaer County, authortiies said. The teens — ages 15 to 17 — were stopped near the Griswold Heights Apartments in Troy as officers have upped their presenece there following recent violence, Troy police said. Police searched the vehicle and found one of the guns in the floorboard and a second in the waistband of one the 15 year old. That gun was reported stolen, authorities said.
